Detailed description
During our expeditions through the marshes, everyone brings along their bag with a packed lunch, a mug, a water bottle, and various personal items such as their Morta knife and a box of bandages. The extreme conditions of the extraction process often take a heavy toll on our gear if it isn’t carefully stored in a particularly sturdy bag.
We needed a tough, rugged, reliable bag to carry our essential accessories wherever we go.
It was from this observation that we came up with the idea of offering THE extraction backpack.
Why this name? Because if this bag can withstand the relentless treatment of a Morta extraction campaign, it will easily hold up to whatever use you put it through.
Made from 600g cotton canvas treated with a 2i finish (rot-proof and waterproof), with braided straps also crafted in cotton. The buckles and rivets are made from solid brass, renowned for its durability.
This backpack was designed to be an everyday bag: one large interior pocket and a smaller one with a zip closure. Nothing more. A true bag for hiking, travel, and everyday adventure. Whether you’re heading to the office, going on a day hike, or exploring a new city on holiday, it will be by your side every step of the way. A minimalist bag that is incredibly hardwearing.
For its construction, we have chosen materials of the very highest quality: we selected the 600g cotton canvas sourced from LATIM, a company based in northern France. The straps are braided in Comines, also in the north, and the complete assembly of the bag is handled by our friends at Bourgeois & Compagnie in Gétigné. Even the markings on the bag are produced in-house using stamps made in Châteaubriant (44).
This bag has, without question, an unmistakable style. Delightfully retro, it proudly displays the workshop’s colours along with the GPS coordinates of the latest extraction site.
Even though it would have been far more profitable to offer a bag manufactured “somewhere far away,” we are immensely proud to present this backpack — the result of several exceptional areas of expertise found right here on French soil.
Any questions?
Can we visit the workshop ?
Yes. We gladly welcome you from Monday through Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in September to June and to 7 p.m. in July and August.
You will discover our unfiltered work environment: noise, dust and good spirits. Nothing is staged or orchestrated. One of us will give you a presentation of the material, the extraction techniques and the different product models here.
What are the differences between the steels ?
With a bit of common sense and lots of love 😉
Avoid submerging your knife. For added safety, simply avoid the handle coming into contact with water, because like wood or horn, Morta is a natural material that does not like water.
You can rub a little beeswax over the handle to brighten up its colour subtleties. Place a drop of oil in the mechanism if necessary. But generally speaking, normal use requires nothing in particular in terms of care.
Where is my order ?
We demand 5 to 15 days lead time to ship your order.
In fact, if you order a knife that we have already finished it can be shipped within 48 hours, sometimes even before. But if your order concerns a knife that we propose on the website but don’t have in stock, we then require the lead time of 5 to 15 days.
In certain exceptional cases, like after being featured on TV for instance, the lead times may be significantly extended. In such cases, we will never fail to so inform our customers.
If you have a deadline (birthday for example), don’t hesitate to contact us directly to find out the availability of a particular knife. We will make the necessary effort to deliver you before your deadline.
