Detailed description
It came over us just like that. Like a craving for change, for something new, for stepping a little outside our usual ranges.
We designed this new Morta knife to meet a different need: to have a model that is generous without being extravagant, comfortable, pleasant to use, and that met our aesthetic standards.
The work-hardened brass bolsters give the handle excellent durability, and the contrast with the Morta produces a particularly elegant look.
The blade is made of 14C28N stainless steel; it requires very little maintenance while remaining easy to sharpen.
A fixed stop system lets you fold the knife without any worry of damaging the cutting edge.
This model is undeniably a testament to the herculean efforts we must put into extracting the Morta, and to the special care we bring to its making.
Fitted with a sturdy slip-joint, and with a minimum of care, this knife will accompany you for many years and will only grow more beautiful with time.
Naturally, you can choose it with a full Morta handle or enhanced with mammoth ivory inlays.
And, as always, you can personalize your knife with a complimentary engraving.
Any questions?
Can we visit the workshop ?
Yes. We gladly welcome you from Monday through Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in September to June and to 7 p.m. in July and August.
You will discover our unfiltered work environment: noise, dust and good spirits. Nothing is staged or orchestrated. One of us will give you a presentation of the material, the extraction techniques and the different product models here.
What are the differences between the steels ?
With a bit of common sense and lots of love 😉
Avoid submerging your knife. For added safety, simply avoid the handle coming into contact with water, because like wood or horn, Morta is a natural material that does not like water.
You can rub a little beeswax over the handle to brighten up its colour subtleties. Place a drop of oil in the mechanism if necessary. But generally speaking, normal use requires nothing in particular in terms of care.
Where is my order ?
We demand 5 to 15 days lead time to ship your order.
In fact, if you order a knife that we have already finished it can be shipped within 48 hours, sometimes even before. But if your order concerns a knife that we propose on the website but don’t have in stock, we then require the lead time of 5 to 15 days.
In certain exceptional cases, like after being featured on TV for instance, the lead times may be significantly extended. In such cases, we will never fail to so inform our customers.
If you have a deadline (birthday for example), don’t hesitate to contact us directly to find out the availability of a particular knife. We will make the necessary effort to deliver you before your deadline.
What are your delivery lead times ?
As explained above, that depends on models and whether we have the necessary parts to make your Morta knife. Generally speaking, the knives are all available in the workshop, so you should count a few days for receipt at your home or workplace.
Are the knives guaranteed ?
Yes. Unconditionally. If you encounter any kind of problem with your Morta knife, don’t hesitate to return it to us and we will gladly repair it.
Where can i see your knives ?
On the website www.couteaux-morta.com or in our workshop in Saint-André-des-Eaux (44).
We do not have retailers. (apart from the restaurant La Mare aux Oiseaux in Saint Joachim, in Brière).
Where can I find the promotional codes ?
If you find them please let us know, because we believe there has never been any promotional code for Morta knives 😉
