Detailed description
The Morta Tourbé has enjoyed remarkable success since its launch. Yet it was still missing a version worthy of its character: one with an as-forged blade.
It is now a reality!
But for a model with such a strong character, pairing it with a magnificent Morta in “tobacco” tones felt like an obvious choice. The result is a visual warmth that is particularly elegant and refined.
Paired with magnificent brass bolsters and an as-forged blade, this Morta gives the knife a character resolutely geared towards adventure.
Its grip, both intuitive and comfortable, makes it an everyday companion as pleasant as it is effective. Carving a fine rib of beef, whittling a piece of wood or, come aperitif time, fending off the sneaky attack of a wild saucisson: the Tourbé will rise to every occasion… or almost!
Hand-forged in our workshop, its high-carbon steel blade will evolve naturally with use. It will gradually take on a patina in shades of brown, giving it even more character and personality.
Because a forged blade does not age like a stainless steel one. Where stainless steel keeps its original look over time, a carbon blade begins to change from its very first uses. Marks, shades and patina gradually appear to create a unique finish, specific to each knife. This evolution is the living signature of hand-worked steel and of the craftsmanship behind it.
A fixed stop system lets you fold the knife without any worry of damaging the cutting edge.
This model also embodies everything that defines Morta: the considerable work required to extract this exceptional material and the meticulous care taken at every stage of its transformation.
Fitted with a sturdy slip-joint, and with a minimum of care, this knife will accompany you for many years.
Naturally, you can choose it with a full Morta handle or enhanced with mammoth ivory inlays.
And because a handcrafted knife deserves to be truly personal, you can also have it engraved free of charge, just the way you like.
Any questions?
Can we visit the workshop ?
Yes. We gladly welcome you from Monday through Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in September to June and to 7 p.m. in July and August.
You will discover our unfiltered work environment: noise, dust and good spirits. Nothing is staged or orchestrated. One of us will give you a presentation of the material, the extraction techniques and the different product models here.
What are the differences between the steels ?
With a bit of common sense and lots of love 😉
Avoid submerging your knife. For added safety, simply avoid the handle coming into contact with water, because like wood or horn, Morta is a natural material that does not like water.
You can rub a little beeswax over the handle to brighten up its colour subtleties. Place a drop of oil in the mechanism if necessary. But generally speaking, normal use requires nothing in particular in terms of care.
Where is my order ?
We demand 5 to 15 days lead time to ship your order.
In fact, if you order a knife that we have already finished it can be shipped within 48 hours, sometimes even before. But if your order concerns a knife that we propose on the website but don’t have in stock, we then require the lead time of 5 to 15 days.
In certain exceptional cases, like after being featured on TV for instance, the lead times may be significantly extended. In such cases, we will never fail to so inform our customers.
If you have a deadline (birthday for example), don’t hesitate to contact us directly to find out the availability of a particular knife. We will make the necessary effort to deliver you before your deadline.
What are your delivery lead times ?
As explained above, that depends on models and whether we have the necessary parts to make your Morta knife. Generally speaking, the knives are all available in the workshop, so you should count a few days for receipt at your home or workplace.
Are the knives guaranteed ?
Yes. Unconditionally. If you encounter any kind of problem with your Morta knife, don’t hesitate to return it to us and we will gladly repair it.
Where can i see your knives ?
On the website www.couteaux-morta.com or in our workshop in Saint-André-des-Eaux (44).
We do not have retailers. (apart from the restaurant La Mare aux Oiseaux in Saint Joachim, in Brière).
Where can I find the promotional codes ?
If you find them please let us know, because we believe there has never been any promotional code for Morta knives 😉
